    bicycle bicycle bicycle
    I want to ride my bicycle
    I want to ride my bike
    I want to ride my bicycle
    I want to ride it where I like

    You say bark I say bite
    You say shark I say hey man
    Jaws was never my scene
    And I don’t like Star Wars
    You say Rolls I say Royce
    You say God give me a choice
    You say Lord I say Christ
    I don’t believe in Peter Pan
    Frankenstein or Superman

    Day 472 – The Happy Koga

    Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

    My Koga (the bicycle) is very pleased with the beauty treatment that it’s been throug at the bike mechanics for the last days. The greatest tune-up in WT history includes::

    * 1 new Shimano XT-93 chain
    * 1 new Shimano XT cassette
    * 1 new Shimano XT front ring (middle)
    * New break pads
    * 1 new Shimano cable (front break)
    * 1 new Shimano gear cable (rear)
    * Bontrager handle bar tape
    * Head set overhaul
    * 1 new Trek 9 bike computer (incl. thermometer)

    It’s great to have a happy Koga next to me again!

    It ain't beautiful, but it works!

    Hopefully less after the vinegar bath and the washing machine...

    Day 468 – A Happy Day

    Saturday, July 21st, 2007

    It’s a happy day.

    During the last days I’ve tried next to everything in order to gain access to my portable hard drive that contains all my photos from the last 470 days on the road. The gadget’s been acting weird and numerous virus scans showed me that the thing is badly corrupted by worms, bugs and other nasty creep.

    But it is a happy day.

    Via a photo recovery program I actually manage to gain access to all the files and make the most needed back-ups. The joy in the apartment is thunderous! I stay up all night long saving those, to me, preciuos photos. What a relief!

    Day 466 – Lemurs and tigers in Singapore Zoo

    Thursday, July 19th, 2007

    Neil and Jennifer keep impressing me! Every day they take me to all these different places all over Singapore and feed me world class gastronomical pearls. It’s just so unbelievably good and the food in itself is reason enough to settle down here. Seriously!

    Lunch with my great Singaporean hosts, Jennifer and Neil...

    Parking coupon in Singapore.

    The hightlight of the day is without doubt Singapore Zoological Gardens. I always liked visiting zoo around the world and Singapore Zoo is by far the best so far. Quite impressive. Neil and I are like sugar OD’ed kids all day!

    Mit hjerte faldt for lemurerne, der opr. kun lever på Madagaskar. Et helt fantastisk pelsdyr, som jeg havde fornøjelsen af at håndfodre med rambutan. Den erfarne WT-læser vil vide, at det siger lidt om min umiddelbare kærlighed for lemuren, for rambutan har (også) en særlig plads hos mig.

    I fall in love with the lemurs. A wonderful fury animal that’s endemic to the island of Madagascar. I get to feed them with rambutan by hand.

    The end of the road…(sort of)

    Saturday, July 14th, 2007

    It’s been 400 days, 15.000 km and 13 days since I crossed the Strait of Bosporus in Istanbul last year and entered Asia. I’ve now come to the end of the road, so to speak, here in Johor Baru, Malaysia. This is where the Asian mainland ends and for sure it will be a great moment for me when I cross the 1038 m causeway to Singapore this afternoon. As always, it’s hard for me not to get emotional when I pass milestones like these.

    From Singapore I plan on going to the Indonesian island Bintan just due south of Singapore. From Bintan I’ll take the ferry to Java, then Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Komodo, Flores and Timor. From Timor I’ll try and get a ride on a yacht, a boat, a ferry, a raft, a refugee float or any other maritime vessel that’ll bring me to Darwin, Australia.

    Thanks for still dropping by. I’ve been busy cycling, internet is not as widespread here in Malaysia as expected and lately I’ve had a blast on the beautiful Tioman Island with a bunch of great international people that kept me busy…

    I’ll be back very soon, from Singapore! Yihaa – so excited about that…

    Cheers, Nicolai
