Day 1.187 – Michael Jackson in Philadelphia?

    Comfort in Havertown!

Ruth has printed out some good Philadelphia info/maps for me to make it easier to find my way in to the big city (6th biggest metropolitan area in the USA, some 5.8 million people – more than the entire Kingdom of Denmark. It’s huge!).

She and Elvis leave for work, and in the early afternoon (after laundry, a bit of Tour de France and general mental acclimatisation) I leave for Philly (as it’s aptly nicknamed), super excited about getting to know this big fella’.

    Sunshine, the cat next door...

    Some day...

I get off the metro smack in the center of downtown, on Market Street near the impressive City Hall, and for the rest of the day it’s high-octane sightseeing. Philadelphia is overwhelming in a very cool, positive way. It’s big-time high-rise territory, very vibrant with people (evidently) from all walks of life, all colours, all social strata. Temperature is all summer-y and pleasant. Can’t help but feeling proud being here (funny, I know). Here and then I get these tiny bouts of electroshock of happiness, and I know I’m privileged being here, doing what I want to.

    City Hall, Philadelphia.

Anyway, welcome to Philadelphia through my Canon and Sony lenses. It’s all for you, beloved WT-reader (and for personal future references in case my memory should crash)…

Phew, long day, lots of photos, lots of walking, lots of audiovisual input. Back home in Havertown Ruth and I go out to a local thai restaurant, Sukho Thai, that serves a heavenly chicken red curry and God have I missed that! Another great day in another great city with another great host/friend.

    Chilling in Havertown.
