Day 1.188 – Illinois in Philadelphia

Through her membership of the WXPN Radio, Ruth has got two free tickets for a concert (part of the Free At Noon friday gigs) with the local band Illinois, and has invited me to come along. Sweet.

    Getting lost again...

After a quick stop at her office (Ruth works as an accountant at the family-run Kuehnle-Wilson Painting Company) – where I get lost looking at maps again – we take the train to the World Live Cafe in downtown Philadelphia for the noon-gig.

Illinois, a band I’d never heard of, turns out to be a great gig, and with cold Troeg’s Drafts (at noon) in our hands accompanied by catchy sounds from the Illinois boys, this Friday has just the right attitude. 🙂

I spend the rest of the day cruising around Philadelphia’s southern neighborhoods. In the Italian Market
area I hear more Spanish and Vietnamese than Italian, but it’s a great area to explore (said the photographer) nonetheless…

I have cycled 4.200 km so far in the US of A. Yeah, you knew that, didn’t you?

You still here? We’re almost there. Hang on. Two photos to go. You can do it.

    Interesting...

A fantastic and long day in Philadelphia. Wow. This Friday started with a beer and a live concert, and ended with a beer and The Proposition at home with Ruth and Elvis.

…and it’s not just some beer. It’s this baby, and thanks to Ruth (again) for opening up another door into the World of Great Beers…

Stay tuned for my Top 10 Beers of The World…

    On this day..

Interesting reading. How great you can live for free, or almost, at different houses with friendly people.
Back in Denmark, there is a public debate going on, how much you can charge for having people staying at your house during the coming climate top meeting in December. Some people are planning to charge DKR 2.000/ EURO 270 per night for a stay in their apartment. Some just charge DKR 200-400/EURO 40. Different countries – different mentalities
